Biography
Jill White is an attorney mediator who has practiced family law since 1994. She is committed to helping clients reach agreements that will work for them and their families, without going through the expense, delay, and stress of participating in the court process. Her areas of practice include divorce, legal separation, shared-parenting, and cooperative/collaborative prenuptial and post-nuptial agreements.
Jill promotes a needs and interests-based approach to resolving conflicts. She recognizes that divorce and family law issues are more than just legal events. Often, there are emotional and psychological issues that shape how the clients communicate with each other. She works with her clients to determine which legal process is the best fit for them. One option is a mediation model in which Jill acts as the only neutral mediator. Another option is integrative mediation across disciplines, a model that includes a second neutral mediator, such as a financial specialist, to sort out complex property and support issues, or a licensed mental health professional serving as a divorce coach to facilitate communication.
Where the parties need more support, and each feels that their interests are best served by having their own consulting attorneys, Jill helps build a team which consists of two attorneys and other collaboratively-trained professionals with backgrounds and expertise in the areas of finance and coaching.
Jill is a member of the Collaborative Practice Golden Gate. This group is committed to conflict resolution outside of court.
